Elective Home Education is where you as a parent or carer can decide to teach your child at home. The education of your child is a great responsibility which Nottingham City LA takes very seriously.

Throughout the City of Nottingham there are over 120 schools catering for pupils with a wide range of needs and different abilities which we are very proud of.

It is the legal duty of all parents and carers to ensure that their child is included in appropriate full-time education. The majority of parents and carers in Nottingham City do this by ensuring that their child attends one of their local schools. However, for a number of different reasons a small number of parents decide to educate their children at home.

The Home Energy Conservation Act (HECA) was passed to ensure that local authorities promote energy efficiency measures to their residents.

The Housing Energy Team has been established to promote, implement and monitor energy efficiency improvements to Council owned homes and other residents of Nottingham whether they are home owners or people who rent privately.

Nottingham is currently on course to meet the target set by HECA of a 30% reduction in 15 years (between 1996 and 2011), having reduced it’s domestic energy consumption as a City by 17.8% circa December 2004.

Grants, subsidies and special schemes are available covering a wide range measures such as cavity wall, solid wall and loft insulation, super efficient boilers and solar measures.

There are also free low energy lightbulbs available to anyone receiving a benefit and for many households receiving a Tax Credit. Call the number below to see if you qualify. Energy-efficient measures particularly insulation and boilers can significantly reduce gas and electricity bills.
