Derelict & Vacant Homes
A home that stands empty causes problems. It can attract vandals, fly tippers, burglars, squatters, drug addicts and prostitutes. Its gardens can become overgrown and filled with rubbish. Roofs and brickwork can become unsafe and the whole building can soon become an eyesore.
An empty home can impact on surrounding homes and inhabitants through damp, vermin, anti-social behaviour, the reduction of house prices and the inability to sell.
The Government and Nottingham City Council are committed to tackling the problem of empty homes. With record demands for housing, it makes sense to use existing unused housing stock before creating an irreversible impact on the environment.
If you know of a privately owned empty home please report it to us.
Direct Payments
A Direct Payment is money given to you from Social Care Services to enable you to buy and arrange your own care or support. Direct Payments are an alternative to receiving direct services like home care, day centres and residential care. Direct Payments enable you to take responsibility for arranging the services or support you require, managing the money, employing staff to provide your support, and so on. This puts you in control.

Drains and sewers
We will investigate blocked drains and sewers. We will also survey drainage systems to make sure they are in working order.
Blocked or defective drains and sewers can be inspected and advice given. We can investigate, test and camera survey drainage systems. Charges for clearing a blocked sewer or for the repair of a defective sewer are shared equally between the owners of all the properties draining into the sewer.
Severn Trent Water repairs and maintains all public sewers. These are main sewers in the highway and all sewers built before 1937. If just your drain is blocked then it is your responsibility no matter what the age of the property.
